As society evolves and criminal jurisprudence develops, it became necessary to amend the Criminal and Other Offences (Procedure) Act, 1960 (Act 30), which has been in place for nearly six decades, in order to address contemporary societal needs and align the criminal justice system with international best practices. One of such evolving best practices is plea-bargaining concept.

The visit was aimed at assessing operational constraints and strengthening parliamentary advocacy for justice sector reforms.
