About Finance

The Directorate ensures effective financial transactions relating to revenue and expenditure management and reporting of the Ministry and its projects accounts.

The functions of the Directorate are:

    • Prompt processing of payment vouchers and the issue of cheques to Agencies, Contractors and Suppliers for service provided.

    • Response to Financial Audit observation made by auditors during the year.

    • Preparation of weekly and monthly returns to the Controller and Accountant General’s Department and the Ministry of Finance.

    • Assisting in the preparation of the Annual Budget Estimates.

    • Preparation of Quarterly Financial Management Reports and Annual Financial Reports

    • Offering financial advice to Management

The Finance Directorate is made up of three sections, namely:

  • Accounts

  • Treasury

  • Financial analysis and Monitoring

Accounts Unit 

    • Prepares payment vouchers and releases of cash for the Ministry’s programmes and activities;

    • Monitors expenditure to ensure that it is within budgetary allocation.

    • Prepares projects/programmes accounts for coordinators and programmes managers and for auditing

    • Prepares financial statements.

Treasury Unit 

      • Applies for release of funds and Processes warrants of requests approved

Financial Analysis and Monitoring

  • The unit is responsible for collating financial reports from the sector agencies and analyse them. They also monitor financial flows and utilization by the sector.
