The British High Commissioner to Ghana, Jon Benjamin and the British Special Envoy for Trade, Adam Afriyie, (MP Windsor) paid a courtesy call on the Attorney General (AG) and Minister for Justice on 4th March 2016.

The British High Commissioner to Ghana, congratulated the AG, Ms. Gloria Akuffo for her appointment as the AG.

Discussions between the AG and the British High Commissioner bordered on Commerce, Prisoner Transfer and The Office of the Special Prosecutor.

The French Ambassador to Ghana, Mr. Francois Pujolas, has expressed optimism that the new government in place will succeed.  He said this when he paid a courtesy call to the Attorney General and Minister for Justice on 4th March 2017.

The French ambassador revealed that his country has a policy of helping the Public Service of Ghana, with the learning of the French language. He said he will be happy to extend the service to the Attorney General’s Department and Ministry for Justice.

The Chief Justice, Mrs. Georgina Wood, admonished lawyers to build their ethical edge and develop their moral fibre to ensure credibility in their profession.

“Make no mistake about this: you can neither thrive nor succeed without morality. Ethics is the instrument through which your knowledge can benefit society,” the Chief Justice said this during the enrolment and call to the bar of 250 lawyers at the Banquet Hall, State House, Accra, on Friday 30th September 2016.

Deputy Attorney-General (Ghana) signs a deal with the UK for the transfer of prisoners between the two countries. 

Citizens of Ghana or the United Kingdom (UK) who commit crimes in the other will serve sentences in their countries of origin.

The Deputy Minister for Justice and Attorney-General, Hon. Dominic Ayine (MP), who signed the agreement for Ghana, noted that Ghana is the first in within the West African sub-region to enter into bilateral agreement with the UK on the transfer of prisoners.
